  • Published on the occasion of Molly Lowe’s exhibition Redwood, her first institutional solo exhibition in the US, this publication features a forward by curator and Pioneer Works director Gabriel Florenz, stills from her eponymous film—her first feature—and long sections documenting Lowe’s signature hand-made masks. These are worn by characters throughout the film to depict one woman, ostensibly Lowe, as she ages from adolescence to obsolescence after receiving a memory transplant from her grandmother, who’s in a vegetative state at a Mnemonegenix Center. The masks collapse Lowe’s identity with those of the other female family members throughout this time-travel family drama, making character dynamics and plot lines intentionally ambiguous.
